Cohen found Daddy's hat - and was not very happy with me when I put it on his head for him.
Mr. Independent wanted to do it himself, so off it came...
...and away he walked to make sure he got far enough away from me so that he could do it himself.
Trying very hard!!
This is the result - he finally got it up there, he just couldn't see where he was going! Ha!
Cohen is such a silly guy these days - and incredibly independent! He wants to do it his way, and doesn't particularly want much help doing whatever it is he's doing. The video is of he and Clyde (who, by the way, is his new best friend!) enjoying some bubbles! A LOT! Turn your volume up! :)
Cohen squishing some saucy raviolis in between his fingers...nice!
"Yes, I've covered myself in sauce...whatcha gonna do about it?!"
"Pink" pancakes - made with beet puree'...
...aaaaand, this is where those ended up! (Gross!)
Brownies with spinach and carrot puree'...(there should be another picture of the garbage bin below this one, because these were gross, too!)
Banana bread with cauliflower puree'. Finally a small victory!
As you can see above, we're trying to encourage Cohen to try new things!! He loves ravioli, but typically only likes it without any sauce on it, however that night, the sauce wasn't too bad - that was until he rubbed it into his eyes and to the bathtub he went! I have a cookbook called Deceptively Delicious and the gist of it is to incorporate vegetable purees into "every day" foods/meals to be sneaky about what you give your kids - that way they're getting the nutrition inside something delicious. Needless to say, pink pancakes (with beets) were disgusting - I'd never make Cohen eat them. The brownies with spinach and carrots, eh, they were okay, but the longer they sat, the less appealing they became. The banana bread with the cauliflower puree was a small success - Cohen will eat it with a little bit of strawberry jam on it, but not an entire piece. We celebrate small victories in our house - and that one is definitely one to celebrate! :)
Cohen showing me the tiger - I think this was the first time he's actually seen that cat moving around (she's usually asleep!)
Hi, Daddy!
Happy hippo!
The hippos are always very intriguing!
Cohen and Daddy getting ready to board the SA Zoo Train!
Got his tickets in hand!
Even on a train ride, his fingers are in his mouth! Ha!
Choo-choo!
Mmm...frozen yogurt after my lunch at Jason's Deli!
Dancin' in the doctor's office! (before his shots!)
We had a wonderful first birthday with Cohen! We woke up this morning and went to the zoo - and got to ride the train this time! That was a lot of fun! Afterwards, we (unfortunately) had to go to the doctor for our 12-month well-baby check-up, but after a good visit, and two shots (boo!) we headed to Jason's Deli for lunch and frozen yogurt! Yummy stuff! Cohen's 12-month stats are: 21 pounds and 31 inches tall - over the 90th percentile for height! Tall and lean - and handsome as can be! A big change from a year ago at 8 pounds, 21 inches long! My how he's grown! :)
Trying on his Texas Rangers hat from his buddy Trey!
Annabelle came to help us open presents!
Wagon rides for Cohen and his friends!
Ellie - mad because Trey was sitting on her...Trey - mad because Cohen was taking his water bottle!! Ha!
Just loungin' in my cozy coupe!
I love my new car!
Daddy videotaped the cake-smash...funny stuff! (the camera was zoomed in at the very beginning...so forgive us for that!) ;)
We had a wonderful birthday party with all our friends and family! Hard to believe we've already celebrated a first birthday! A BIG thank you to all of Cohen's friends that were able to join us! We feel very blessed and lucky to have met you all and are so grateful that you are part of our lives! We couldn't have asked for a better day!
